Keeskea - Bio Photo

…a unique gift for making sense of what’s tangled.

The ambient compositions of Keeskea (case-kay-ah) exist between worlds. Both electronic and naturalistic, ghostly and melodic, rhythmic and adrift, the Adelaide artist’s self-produced 6 track debut “Find Yourself Alone” is both placid and filled with lyrical unease. A suite of gentle compositions whose odd, surreal beauty cannot be underestimated.

With a unique gift for making sense of what’s tangled, 22 year old Marousopoulos unwinds sensitive emotions to their threadbare state with her vintage Harmony Alden H45 Stratotone and whisper-close vocals, couching them in gentle electronic production, but leaving more than enough space for reflection and reconnection.

Perhaps what is most striking about Find Yourself Alone is that its sense of space and emotion is bottomless.

Her debut single ‘You Did’ gained airplay with triple j including on Home & Hosed, also impressing the likes of Majestic Casual, The Wild Honey Pie (US) and triple j Unearthed, who featured it in their podcast, with the station’s Music Director Dave Ruby Howe confessing himself “floored by the piercing delicacy” of the track. Equally stunned by its idiosyncratic beauty, Hobbledehoy Record Co. welcomed Keeskea to their tight-knit family, which also includes Deafcult, Sophie Hutchings, Bec Stevens and more.

Marousopoulos is joined live by classically trained violinist Olivia Bolin, who provides delicate accents in an intuitive, organic interpretation of Keeskea’s recorded work. Already building a revered reputation for these disarmingly unguarded performances, Keeskea has shared stages with Stella Donnelly and Jen Cloher.
