Holly Throsby is a songwriter, musician and novelist. She is the author of three books and has released five solo albums, a collection of original children’s songs, and two records as part of the band, Seeker Lover Keeper (with Sarah Blasko and Sally Seltmann).

Holly has been nominated for five ARIAs – including two for Best Female Artist. She has enjoyed consistent support from community and ABC radio and her songs have featured in numerous TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Offspring, Colin from Accounts and Terrace House Tokyo. She has played major Australian music festivals and toured extensively in Australia and abroad with artists including Bill Callahan, Joanna Newsom, Paul Kelly and The Handsome Family. Guests on her albums include Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon), Mick Turner and Jim White (Dirty Three). Her songs have been covered by The Tallest Man on Earth and Courtney Barnett.

Holly’s novels – Goodwood (2016), Cedar Valley (2018), and Clarke (2022) ­– are a genre-blending, interconnected trilogy set in the fictitious Gather Region. They were all critically acclaimed bestsellers. Holly has been shortlisted for numerous literary awards including two Australian Book IndustryAwards, an Indie Book Award, a Ned Kelly Award, and the Barbara Jefferis Award (for novels that empower the status of women and girls). She has appeared at most major Australian writers festivals, and numerous regional ones.

Holly is a passionate advocate for LGBTQI rights, animal rights, social justice and the environment. She has been a judge for the Australian Music Prize; a peer assessor for the Australia Council; a songwriting mentor; and a facilitator/participant for several government-led arts panels and forums.
