A very wide range of influences and styles are documented, with notable comparisons at times to his previous musical work. Keyboard accents, cello, and beautiful vocal delivery matched with Roberts' amazing lyrics, fantastic production, and an all-around stellar musicianship make In Formal Introduction a wonderful indie-rock record.

This Australian version also contains the tracks from the ridiculously rare and out of print Little Informal EP (GTA-020.5).
