Blueline Medic are dusting off the road cases and joining old mates Bodyjar and Samiam (USA) on a run of national dates this month to help the Jar fellas celebrate their 20 years. Support coming from Clowns.
This is probably my favourite of the classic Hobble logo tees, and it’s finally back in black… universal colour of fashionistas, punx/metalheads, goths, batman and other social misfits. Unisex to fit both guys and girlies across plenty of sizes (XS – 2XL), on super soft premium fitted t-shirts.

Since 2004, THIS WILL DESTROY YOU has been forging some of the world’s most brutal, dynamic, and precariously visceral instrumental rock. In addition to a vigorous tour schedule, their celebrated discography and critically renowned soundtrack work for feature films and documentaries have earned them a sizable and fervent international following. Another Language, TWDY’s fourth full length LP, marks their euphonious return from a prolonged vacuous dark period that threatened to break both the band and the members themselves. Rather than be stifled by their experience TWDY were atomized and subsequently made anew, emerging with a revived energy and reinforced sense of solidarity. As a result, Another Language captures the band at its most potent, honed, and utterly powerful form yet, displaying an edified unity and graduated sense of song-writing, tonal complexity, and studio prowess.

If you’ve ever wondered which colourful characters you might encounter at a CERES gig, they’re all represented here in the brand new video for their rocking tune ‘Syllables’ – and it’s nice to see they’ve got at least one superfan. The song is taken from their debut album I Don’t Want To Be Anywhere But Here, out now. You can also thank the good folks at Rockaway Creative for coming up with this film clip.
Taken from Jamie Hay’s tumblr blog:
Hey Everyone, I am really pleased to announce that I have 2 new songs for download! accompanied by limited edition prints by Chris Colohan & Ben Soedradjit with all profits going to the Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service.
I chose to donate the proceeds to WDVCS because they are a not for profit and do incredible work supporting woman & children who suffer at the hands of their abusers. I believe that domestic violence is a national emergency. The fact that in Australia, one woman is killed every week by her partner or ex-partner is shocking & frightening. We need to create and continue discussion about it to bring it more to the surface. I can write a song about it but organisations like WDVCS are doing real work & need our support.
Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service of Victoria (WDVCS) is the state-wide not-for-profit service for women and children experiencing violence and abuse from a partner or ex-partner, another family member or someone close to them. WDVCS provides emergency accommodation, a free 24-hour crisis line, outreach services, advocacy, referral, and information and support services to enable women and children to become – and stay – free from violence.

In all respects, this has been a long time coming.
Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kevin Devine and I have crossed paths before many years ago, but here we are again, and I couldn’t be happier. His innovative music sits somewhere between conventional genres, still retaining an incredible level of accessibility, intelligence and oftentimes a bold simplicity. His musical career is a story of hard work, building on small victories and embracing supporters. It’s a great fit for Hobbledehoy, and truly an honour to be working with Kevin and his own self-release label Devinyl for AUS/NZ. He had this to say…
“Devinyl is proud to team up with Hobbledehoy – a smart, motivated, truly independent label with a cool & diverse roster. I’m relieved & excited to have found such a philosophically-aligned home for these albums.”
Kevin has released not one but two new albums, and simultaneously to boot. One, Bulldozer, is a solo effort produced by Elliott Smith collaborator Rob Schnapf, and the other, Bubblegum, a full band effort with his Goddamn Band, produced by Jesse Lacey of Brand New. Raising over $100k via a Kickstarter campaign to fund album production and touring, Devine was subsequently highly motivated, buzzing with the amount raised which was over double the $50k target. The result, two brilliant, and different, full length albums.
The Bubblegum/Bulldozer albums are available to download from iTunes and other digital retailers immediately. The vinyl LP and CD editions can be pre-ordered now and will ship from April 2, before the official street date of April 11 2014 when the albums will be in stores nationally.

Ceres have sprung from the proverbial woodwork of the crowded Melbourne music community over the past twelve months, with the accessible melodies and purposeful direction of their stunning 2013 debut EP ‘Luck‘. Now, the awkwardly charming quartet present their debut album and first ever national tour.
– Pre-order I Don’t Want To Be Anywhere But Here (LP/CD/Digital)
Ceres play anthemic, beautifully constructed pop rock, with a dark edge and a wholly unpretentious approach. Warm and honest, it’ll hit you right in the gut, effortlessly combining the most endearing and elements of 90’s emo, with the sincerity of modern punk rock and the self deprecating lyrical context of 90′ and 00’s indie rock. At times subtle and surprisingly complex, Ceres are for people who enjoy both singing along and sulking. Debut album ‘I Don’t Want To Be Anywhere But Here‘ was recoded to tape at Sing Sing Studios at home in Melbourne. Destined for release on April 4th, it is a band at their most inspired and blissfully unguarded. Single ‘Syllables‘ is a perfect introduction.

Arrows (FINAL SHOW), Jamie Hay, Ceres, We Set Sail
HOBBLE DAY is a small, annual event for friends of the label to celebrate the wonderful camaraderie and important networks we’ve all helped build together through music. Each year, a different city from the last, meeting as many people as we all can! The first city chosen is Brisbane.
Much of the labels life to date has been in my home state of Victoria. But even after moving to South Australia three years ago, Queensland has always been the second strongest state for direct orders. Some of our most loyal fans and greatest friendships have forged from there, and I am continuously reminded of the passion, quality and unique perspectives of many artists in the region. It was always an ideal starting point.
Unexpectedly, Hobble Day has become the fitting final show for longtime Brisbane friends Arrows, who after 8 years are now finishing up. From Victoria (formally New South Wales) will be Jamie Hay and recent label signings Ceres, also from Victoria. Our local mates We Set Sail will be there to kick things off.
New video from The Leap Year: Featuring more bikes and some good ol’ fashion backyard cricket.

Formed in 2003 in Beverly, Massachusetts, the band has enjoyed an inexorably rise since the propulsive rhythms and ecstatic washes of their debut 2005 EP ‘You Are The Conductor.’ Channelling Pink Floyd, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Penderecki, they tapped into a seam all their own. Expanding their ranks to a three guitar attack in 2007’s ‘The Four Trees’ they continued experimenting with their sound through classical motifs to what would become ‘Waking Season’, produced by Matt Bayles (Russian Circles, Minus the Bear, Mastodon, Minus the Bear and Mono).
Throughout, the band have build a formidable live reputation off the back of consistent touring through the Northern Hemisphere. In addition to extensive solo headline tours, a diverse range of European & US tours with God Is An Astronaut, H.I.M., Minus The Bear and Defeater, as well as a sold-out North American co-headlining run with 65daysofstatic late last year established the band’s demand as a live draw on an upward trend. Recent jaunts through Asia have missed the Australian continent until now. This March they will trek through Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide on a headline club tour.
Touring as support will be Sydney cinematic instrumental group Meniscus, who themselves are coming off the back of successful European & Australian touring in support of 2011’s War of Currents album.
Presented by The Bird’s Robe Collective, Hobbledehoy, TheMusic and RTR FM.
