In the midst of a heavy touring schedule and sometimes releasing a few records with A Death In The Family, Conation, Fear Like Us, Tyre Swans & Ribbons Patterns, Jamie slowly assembled his first solo release. Recorded in 2009 during the brief quiet periods, it wasn’t until Autumn 2010 that the entire mixing, mastering + artwork process could be fully completed.

Thieves heralds a beautiful progression in Jamie Hay‘s catalog, anchored by his trademark vocals and haunting undertones – befitting of his upbringing in an old coal-mining town.

The 2 songs are exclusive to this release and were recorded in Champaign-Urbana in March by cousin Nate Kinsella (of Make Believe and Birthmark) and mixed in Chicago. The 7″ is mastered by John Golden and features a chipboard jacked designed by Paul Koob (Don’t Mind Control, (the ep)).

Taking place in Melbourne over September 17th, 18th, 19th, this year’s event will be headed-up by legendary UK punks LEATHERFACE, making their first visit to Australia since 2005. The line-up also includes Australian acts A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, BREAK EVEN, THE CURRENCY, PAPER ARMS, LUNGS, ARROWS, KILL WHITEY, LIKE…ALASKA, THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS, GRENADIERS, THE GUN RUNNERS, GRAND FATAL, GRIM FANDANGO, WIL WAGNER & THE SMITH ST BAND, FIRES OF WACO and JAMIE HAY, with more acts still to be announced!

Spread over 3 nights (Friday Sep 17th @ The Arthouse, Saturday Sep 18th @ East Brunswick Club and Sunday Sep 19th @ The Arthouse arvo / evening), tickets will be sold separately for each show.

Joey Cape and Tony Sly are two names synonymous with modern punk rock, respective frontmen for Californian pop punk bands Lagwagon and No Use For A Name, no strangers to Australian shores. Now for the first time down-under, the pair will be doing a nine show acoustic tour with support from Jamie Hay (A Death In The Family).
