In 1997 during an extended break in between Braid tours, the band’s vocalist / guitarist Robert Nanna began playing shows and recording under the title of The City On Film, but never taking it too seriously.

Throughout Braid calling it a day and both the formation and demise of Hey Mercedes to follow, Robert juggled the project with a slew of smaller releases and tours with the likes of Kind of Like Spitting and other friends. In more recent years, the project has been shifted up another gear with an ongoing list of releases, touring with Minus The Bear, Owen and more across the United States, UK, Europe, South-East Asia and Australia.
