It didn’t take long for people to realise that while this may still be categorised as an ’indie rock’ band, it’s most certainly a full step beyond. With one of the most devout fan bases in the country, it’s easy to see why when Blueline Medic’s energy, gentle personalities and master execution have sustained since day one.
Forming in 1999 with Lachlan Hodgson briefly on drums originally, Donnie Dureau (guitar, vocals), Adrian Lombardi (guitar) and David Snow (bass) soon recruited Shaun Lohoar (drum) from the band Pollyanna. The band have an array of releases in their catalog, including records on Sony and the Fueled By Ramen label, a split with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, international touring, extensive Australian touring and working with J. Robbins. In an interview, guitarist / vocalist Donnie Dureau was noted to say “That tense feel, I like having it. We don’t like experiencing it in everyday life, but we like having that intensity in our music”. While every Blueline Medic record is distinct, Donnie certainly summarizes the band well.
