One of the things I love about the different artists on Hobbledehoy (brilliant music aside) is what interesting people they are. For readers to check out, I’ve listed a few intriguing things about some of these people – musical and non-musical endeavors. Points may be obvious to some, while others might discover something new, by no means is this an exhaustive list!

The City On Film
Currently working for the uber-successful Threadless, a community web based t-shirt company, Bob Nanna always has a truckload of things going on. The best way to keep up is at his website – my favorite non-musical project of his being the Never Ending Polaroid. Playing in seminal-bands Braid and Hey Mercedes, Bob also has a new project Certain People I Know.

Oh Messy Life
Adam Lees is currently studying at University as well as fronting the band Lungs. He also keeps an interesting, regularly updated blog and dabbles in print art / layout.

Blueline Medic

Singer / guitarist Donnie Dureau is currently doing his first year of Primary teaching on Elcho island, off the coast of the Northern Territory. Bassist David Snow has done cover artwork for every Blueline record. The first record was first released by Sony music in 1999, then later reissued by Fueled By Ramen who also did their next 3 releases. Members have also spent time in notable bands Pollyanna, Mid Youth Crisis and Caustic Soda. Blueline are currently taking a break.

Jamie Hay

Jamie fronted Conation years ago, now playing with workhorses A Death In The Family. He keeps a blog and also is responsible for many designs on ADITF t-shirts. Jamie is sorting out details for his long delayed first solo release as well as the resurgence of another of his bands Fear Like Us.

The Leap Year
Martin Allcock is a Law lecturer at a Western Australian University and concurrently doing a PHD. Paul Haimes is also studying for his masters, arranges music for film and is developing a vegan / vegetarian online food-guide for Western Australia. Chris Reimer is working a series of paintings for The Leap Year’s  second full-length artwork.

Owen
Mike Kinsella (aka Owen) just recently became a father and is putting the final touches on his 5th solo album. Mike has played in many bands including American Football, Joan Of Arc as well as being a touring member of Maritime – Davey von Bohlen’s (The Promise Ring) latest band.

Arrows
Bassist Carl Burnett co-operates Empire Distribution, a street / skateboarding clothing distribution company. Guitarist Scott Merillo is some kind of electrical systems genius. The band are currently writing and touring frequently.

Hey Mercedes
Drummer Damon Atkins worked many years as a tour manager for many bands including My Chemical Romance. Bob Nanna (see above post The City On Film for info). Bassist Todd Bell runs Grand Theft Autumn Records, which has close ties with Hobbledehoy. Hey Mercedes have had records out on prolific record labels including Vagrant, Polyvinyl and are about to reunite for a single show in September.
